Succession Plan

Friends, and family,

We write this to give you all an update on the future of our firm, as well as the partners of the firm. Just as we have counseled our many clients through the years on their own succession plans in both their personal lives and their business strategies, we have done the same internally. In reviewing how our firm has evolved through the years, we are excited to take that next step in our own succession planning. While this plan means the end of the entity "Ruck & Wright Law, Ltd.," both "Ruck" and "Wright" are excitedly evolving our respective practices.

Since our formation in 2016, Ruck & Wright Law, Ltd. has strived to deliver quality, reliable, high-level representation for our clients. Built on the pillars of real estate, business, estate planning/administration, and litigation, we have continued to grow our presence and our footprint throughout northwest Ohio. In a business where reputation is everything, it has been our focus to ensure that through our advice and our case results, we provide our clients with the best outcomes possible. Looking back at the last 9 years, we feel as though we have met that goal, and we both feel extremely blessed to have gained the trust of so many. Our litigation results speak for themselves with a myriad of successes, and our transactional clients leave us with well thought out, effective, cost-efficient plans to handle their respective situations, whether it is an estate plan, business acquisition, etc. Through these successes, we have each realized that there are specific areas in which we especially enjoy practicing, and we both intend to continue doing so.

However, we have each taken on additional things as well, some related to our law practice and others outside of it. Notably, Doug now serves on the Wood County Board of Elections and is engaging in other outside business interests; and Kyle has continued to grow Perrysburg Title and expands his real estate developments. Both of us also represent different municipalities through our law practice. Due to the simple nature of being involved in so many things locally, we find ourselves running into more and more potential conflicts of interest within our practice. Thus, in an effort to maintain the type of law practice we each want without having to sometimes navigate certain conflicts of interest that naturally flow from having multiple business dealings within a close proximity, we have decided that forming our own entities allows us to best serve our clients while avoiding any potential conflicts of interest that may arise from our engagement in various other projects.

So, effective March 31, 2025, Doug will be operating as owner of Ruck & Ruck Law, Ltd., and Kyle will be operating as owner of The Wright Law Firm, Ltd. While we will miss the many funny references we often get about our "Ruck & Wright" label, we are excited for this next step in our journeys. Rest assured that while we will adhere to all of the ethical requirements that affect us in being two different entities, our paths will remain very connected. We have many ongoing cases that we will continue to co-counsel together, and we intend to work together on matters going forward, as permitted by our Rules of Professionalism. As for matters we may have been previously unable to handle due to our partnership, we now anticipate being able to handle without conflict.

Doug will primarily operate out of our Pemberville location, and Kyle will primarily operate out of our Perrysburg location - but again, thanks to the amicable nature of this evolution, both are happy to meet clients in either location based on your preferences.

Again, we want to thank all of our clients, friends, and family for the support we have received which has allowed us to do something that we both love every day: help clients. We look forward to being able to continue to do what we both love as our paths move forward.

- J. Douglas Ruck & Kyle E. Wright
